Jacob’s Ladder – Day 2

Yesterday was the concert hall and today it’s a church. A church service has all manners of waiting inscribed into it. There’s the initial waiting for the service to start and then processes of waiting for the element of the service to complete themselves.

A lot of language revolves around the idea of waiting for God’s presence , of answers and powerfully of the Second Coming. There is then the ritualistic waiting for the giving of communion.

There are questions as to how believers engage with these times of waiting and whether some services are almost scared to wait or be silent. What do we fear in the waiting? Is it ourselves? Is it something other?
