Jacob’s Ladder – Day 8

Yesterday traffic lights and today one of the entities that make traffic. Buses. Waiting for buses is a particular kind of public communal waiting. We aren’t entirely sure when the bus will come (though London buses are great!). The waiting is ok if the weather is all right and if you’re not in a hurry. Otherwise waiting for a bus is horrible!

The odd thing about waiting for public transport is that it’s a waiting in order to get somewhere. As someone who can’t drive (not yet anyway) I wait around a lot for buses. It’s a wait in transit. An enforced pause in a movement. A pause dependent on the bus driver.

The bus stop becomes a place of waiting where at the end you just move on. Pause movement. Movement pause. Pause.
