Today’s sounds give a feeling of excited waiting. Conversations, greetings, recaps of the days gone by, it’s all there. The odd bit is that this was recorded while my daughter was waiting outside the classroom to start her school day. For most of us school doesn’t conjure up a sense of excitement. But this is precisely what the sounds seem to indicate. A general sense of the festive. Maybe it was a sunny day. Maybe there was an odd conjunction of good moods from the majority of those in the school playground. As Advent closes and the promise of light comes closer it is in the unexpected that light resides. That’s why we are asked to wait. For if waiting is rushed through, or filled with something else we’ll miss what we’re longing for.
